/ NPR Student Podcast Challenge –

Should cornbread be sweet, savory or spicy? Richmond middle school students at the Neighborhood Resource Center of Greater Fulton tackled the question for their entry into the inaugural NPR Student Podcast Challenge, which received nearly 6,000 entries from around the country.

The students cooked and compared different brands of cornbread mix. They were participants in the Art 180 after-school community program, Telling Stories Through Radio in Fulton. The episode was named an Honorable Mention award winner in the NPR contest.

Allison Bennett Dyche produced this piece. She and Krysti Albus taught the class through a collaboration of the NRC, Art 180 and WRIR 97.3 FM. The story featured the voices of Quadir Muldor, Darianna Rattley, and Darius Rattley. The youth also recorded and produced other audio segments, which will be part of The Really Big Show exhibition at Art 180 on June 7.
